Cantor House Print

from $10.00

Printed copy of the Cantor House watercolor painting I did.

What is the Cantor House? This is a beautiful historical home located in my home town of Marion IL. It is located on South Market street, along with several other lovely historic homes. The Cantor house was built in 1893 by a man named Manhiem Cantor. Manhiem was a well known gentleman in Marion, he served on the board of directors for two financial institutions in Marion. He also had a clothing business on the square.

He and his wife (Sarah) raised two daughters in this home. (Wife and children pictured above). The home switched hands a few times over the decades, but eventually was owned by William and Anna Harris around 1965. William was an Illinois businessman, and Democratic Party leader and legislator. He passed away in 2013, but his wonderful wife Anna, just passed this past August 2025. She was 101 years of age when she passed, and I had the wonderful honor of coming into her home, and speaking with her before she passed. I highly recommend getting to know your elders in your community. You never know the amazing things you will get to learn!

Both black and white images pictured above were found at www.mihp.org.
